From last year Daniel already have a plan to move OpenCart project to Github. Now it’s come true. Start from July 23, 2012 the OpenCart project officially move to Github at This is a good move to involve community to OpenCart project.

For you who not familiar with Github, this move mean developer able to clone the project then push their bugs fix, code improvements or suggested feature to OpenCart project. The OpenCart team will check it and use the code when accepted.

Seems like github is not the official source.

Try downloading and you will get the “unstable” v1.5.5

No, the github is official source.
The problem is Daniel use master branch to develope v.1.5.5 instead of create another branch and keep the master branch for bugs fix only.

Well, it’s misleading. I posted the same on the forum and a developer said github is not the official branch. Regardless, if it’s a buggy version there then better not mention it. Hopefully someone forks into a proper opensource project. Some of their views are very against the whole motto of opensource so I don’t know why they even use Github if can’t use it properly.
